The animal of the day is the Empala Ram
Marlie Frasier
Empala rams spend most of the year in bachelor herds, but become territorial, noisy and aggressive during the change. Mating males usually gather together in groups of 15-20. With head raised, mouth open and lip curled-a display of behaviour known as 'flehmen'-a male lion captures the scent of a female on heat.
