ZILKER FUN GUY PLEASE LOOK!

Last post on the Zilker blog. I was thinking about maybe starting a blog for the 2011 Zilker graduates. I looked on the comment for my last post and Rose said she could not make it to the Barton Springs pool thing so I decided to make it every Thursday, Friday, or Saturday! If I decide to make a 2011 Zilker grads blog I will continue to post and hopefully all the others. If The 2011 zilker Grads blog gets started today or tomorrow I will ask Ms. Pena, Ms. Ogren, Ms. Thompson to spread the blog info through out the 3 classes! Hope to keep posting!

I have known most of you since kindergarten, now I will have to remember all of the great memories we have shared. We have made new friends in the past year and we have also been holding on to old friends since kindergarten. We will all greatly miss friends that we shall try to hold on to as we have done since Kindergarten. You will notice over the next few years that everyone goes in different ways. I hope to keep in touch with everyone from our family at Zilker Elementary School. For those that only arrived at Zilker this year I wish you could have had the experiences that most of us hold. Hi, I had a really good time at the "Sock Hop" yesterday. It was like a mixture of coolness, scariness, and sweaty kids running around being goofballs. Now that I've talked about the Sock Hop I must start talking about HAVING FUN! The Peter Pan Mini Golf course is fun and challenging for all ages. If you would like to play 1 course (18 holes) it will cost around $6.00. If you would like to play both courses (36 holes) it will cost $9.00. For children 5 and under it costs $2.00 less on both courses. It is very fun and they even have a gigantic bunny, peter pan, turtle and a gigantic t- rex! If you are looking for something to do when it is dark outside you should go to the South Congress bridge. Just around dusk the bats will fly out from under the bridge. It is really beautiful and anyone will enjoy it! If you have a younger sibling or relatives from out of town this is a must see place in Austin if you have never seen a bat.

I hope you enjoy Peter Pan Mini Golf and the bats at the South Congress Bridge!

PS I am starting a "Zilker Group" at Barton Springs pool tonight from 9- 10pm! Please show up if you want to have the best night of your lives. Make sure you tell everyone you know and bring towels swimsuits and lots of friends! I hope to see YOU there!!!!!

• If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekends or in the summer, listen to me! Last time I posted about the fountains at Palmer Events Center Park, and Bubble Tea at Toy Joy. The Austin Children's museum is really fun even though we are not quite children. Even my parents liked it! Think about it, if I am sitting here listening to the Gorillaz (I love the Gorillaz) and this place rings a bell it must be cool! They have arts and crafts stations set up and places where you can make music and stuff like that! If you are there and are feeling like a dork well maybe this will make you feel better: last time I was there these hipster- skater guys pulled up in their motorcycles and started having a good time. The message here is if hipster- skater guys riding motorcycles started having a good time at a little kids museum, you should too. Something else you should do on a sunny day is go down to Lake Austin and SUP (Stand Up Paddle boarding) or kayak or swim. If you have a party boat with swim decks on the back, that would be fine to take out also! If you are scared to go swimming in the chilly water here is some advice: don't tell anyone that you are afraid to jump in because you are basically asking to get pushed in by your best friend. Make sure you wear sunscreen because if you don't the sunburns are the type that turn bright red and start to peel and hurt a lot! I hope you enjoy the Children's Museum or Lake Austin! I'm not going to tell you who I am until the end of the year so why keep asking. More people read my blog to know who I am rather then the big picture...fashion! I really liked Zoe's dress that she wore today, her messy braid went perfect and gave of a busy yet fashionable student. The dark navy blue went perfect with her skin tone too. Write and tell me some of your favorite outfits.

Hi. If you are looking for something fun during the weekend or summer listen to me! Last time I posted about Barton Springs and the Zilker Botanical Gardens. Next to the Palmer Events Center there is a park. Inside the park there are these holes in the ground and they shoot water out of the little holes. It is extremely fun to run through and it is FREE! Make sure you bring a swimsuit, sunblock and some towels. Heads up: the water is usually just right or extremely cold! If you are thinking about going I would recommend it be an all day thing. If you don't have time during the day, that is perfectly fine. You can go during the night also! It is really cool during the night because they turn on different colored lights by the fountains and they change colors as water comes out of the holes! I give this place five stars! If you would like something that you can chew and drink at the same time I say go to the best store.... Toy Joy! The Toy Joy on campus has a food and drink bar where you can get the delicious "Bubble Tea". There are numerous flavors to choose from. They range from chocolate lavender to creamy strawberry, peach, mango! My newest favorite is the pineapple, coconut. Bubble Tea is an icy drink with chewy tapioca balls at the bottom. The people at Toy Joy give you a big straw so you can get the tapioca balls. The kid size costs $1.95, the small size costs $2.95, the medium size costs $3.95, and the large size costs $4.95. Today, the Apple product of the day is the iMac.

The new iMac of course comes in 27 inches and 21.5 inches. All of the new iMacs are now quad-core, not just the $1,999 model. The iMac includes one Thunderbolt port on the 21.5 inch models, and two Thunderbolt ports on the 27 inch models, which is really cool because you can have up to three displays, (including the iMac) but that's just for the really hardcore movie/photo editors. And of course, like all Macintosh computers, the iMac is very green. The iMac is BFR and PVC free, it has a Mercury free-LED-backlit display. The display glass is Arsenic free, and the iMac has highly recyclable aluminum and glass enclosures. The iMac meets the ENERGY STAR 5.2 requirements, and is rated EPEAT Gold. In the box, you get the iMac, (duh) you have a choice between the Apple Magic Mouse and The Apple Magic Trackpad, (wireless) the power cord, install/restore DVDs, and a printed and electronic documentation. The iMac comes with iLife "11, and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The camera built in to the iMac is bumped up from the iSight camera to the FaceTime HD camera, which shoots at a stunning HD 720p quality. Apple has done away with the Intel Core i3 processor, and the iMacs only have the i5, but you can configure the $1,499 model to have a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, and you can configure the $1,999 model to have a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor.
I rate this this computer 5 out of 5 stars, and I really like the iMac and Apple. I'm very sorry to say that this is gonna be the last Apple Product of the day because the blog is being shut down. So if you're looking to buy a new computer you should get the new iMac or the recently refreshed MacBook Pro.

Barton Springs! If you feel like going there is a secret that I must tell. In the summer at 9:00 PM you can get in free! You can just walk right in and the life guards will not ask you why you just walked in. They turn on these big white lights and you can see through the water as clearly as if you were going during the day! If you feel like going in the middle of the day admission costs $3.00. If you are looking for something that will not turn you into a lime popsicle you could go see the amazing Zilker Botanical Garden. It is pretty cool and relaxing. If you are having a stressful day you can just ask your parent to take you there! I hope you enjoy Barton Springs or the Zilker Botanical Garden, but until next time.... hope you have a great day!

Hey guys, today I'm going to do a review on the band Kings of Leon.

On to the review...

Kings of Leon is an American alternative rock band formed in Tennessee. They have a great style, similar to bands like Nirvana or The Clash. Kings of Leon has performed at many music festivals, such as ACL here in Austin, TX and Lollapalooza in Grant Park, Chicago. I really like their album Only By The Night, which was released in 2009. The reason I like it so much is just because of their style in that album. Kings of Leon consists of four band members (all brothers) who are very talented. Overall, I really love KoL because they have great music, and I really love alternative rock.

Hi hi everyone! Today I'm going to do a review on the song "Memories" by Weezer. You might have seen my review on the band, if not check it out, it's somewhere on the bloggity.

"Memories" is much like a lot of Weezer songs. It's a very Power Pop or Punk Rock song. The song begins with a guitar solo, and the title is exactly what the song is about, memories. They sing "Listenin' to techno music on the bus where we undigest" which is by the way my favorite part of the whole song. Why? I love Techno/Electronica. I really love this song because it reminds me of all he memories I've had. Weezer is a very talented band that I really like, so expect me to do more reviews of their songs. Overall, this song is great and please go buy the whole Weezer album "Hurley" on iTunes, I think you'll like it.

Hey there Austin-ites! Austin-ish person is here to save your Austin place going troubles away! (that didn't really make any sense at all, but yeah, you get what I mean. (I hope)) Well, anyway, back to the blog. So today we will be reviewing.....

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE CINEMA!!!!!!!!

So, the Alamo is this awesome theater with several locations around Austin. The most popular and my favorite, is the one on South Lamar. It's super cool, and it's very old fashioned and has cool 50's style theme. The epically unique thing about the Alamo Drafthouse is that they half as a restaurant. Yup, that's right. They literally have a menu and they serve the food directly to you. AND it's good food! I loooove the strawberry milkshakes with candied sunflower seeds and fried mozzarella sticks. Yummy!!!!!!!!! What's also awesome about it is that they also play old movies that are WAY out of the theatres so you get to see them on the big screen, not just on DVD, which isn't as great an experience. I love the Alamo and you should love it too!

Oh, and by the way, I'm Grace. I'm telling you because some person ruined this whole awesome guided group for ALL of us. Thanks a lot, whoever you are. Nice move. :/

Hey everyone I'm back. The Bulls and the Heat played the first game of the eastern finals. It was an awesome game if you are a Bulls fan! The Bulls beat the Heat by 19 points! Derrick Rose was amazing as the MVP for the entire NBA. The Bulls defense shut down James and Wade for the Heat.
The Thunder also beat the Grizzles in a final game 7. Now the Western conference finals are set with the Thunder playing the Mavs. This should be a good series, and I will tell you more about it soon!

Hi everybody. Today I'm going to be doing a review on the song "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. First of all I have no idea what out this song is about, but I like it. The song is somewhat crazy, featuring gunshots and weird lyrics. The song has an Alternative Dance or Alternative Hip-Hop ring to it. It actually backs an 80's song by The Clash. The song has been remixed, and sounds really cool if your even remotely into Dance/Electronica music. You guys really should think about getting this song. Sorry I know this was a quick review, but it was a 1-song review today.

Overall, I love this song a lot!

Austin-ish Person!!!!!!

Hey peoples! I'm Austin-ish Person!!!!!! blogging about Austin-ish stuff! So, today I will be blogging about... Big Top Candy Shop! Yum yum yummy!It's a certainly very "out there" place, but in an amazing way! Located on the Austin famous South Congress Avenue, or also known as, soco, it keeps the "Keep Austin Weird" feel going for sure! It has a sort of carnival theme going on inside that local strollers and tourists alike seem to love. But it's not just famous for it's wonderful atmosphere. When you walk in, you inhale the comforting smell of delicious salt water taffy in tall weaved baskets according to flavor, the creamy to-die-for drinks such as the mango italian cream soda with a dallop of cream (my personal favorite), the freezing cold Blue Bell ice cream perfect for killer Texas heat in the summer, the large array of any type of chocolate you can imagine, well, you get the idea. It's pretty much every kid's (and adults) dream. But be prepared, it's crowded most of the day, especially on weekends, caused by it's intimate setting and awesome candy. It sooo good and you should try it!

Hello everyone. So I'm chilling right now and decided to do a review for you guys.

Tonight, I'm gonna review the band Weezer. I'm a HUGE fan of Weezer, just because they're so awesome!

On to the review:

Weezer is a Alternative Rock/ Power Pop band. They feature bass, keyboard, guitar, and vocals in most of their music. The band has a very "I don't care" or sarcastic tone in their vocals. The band also has a kind of "We're 40 year old teens" feel to it. First off, I really love the lyrics. The Pop Punk lyrical style really brings every song together. The bands influences are other Alternative bands like Nirvana and Green Day. Their latest album "Hurley" seems to go along with more of a darker, yet still relatively upbeat feel. My favorite song on "Hurley" would have to be "Memories" because the song really makes you think.

Point is, Weezer has a great style, I really recommend anyone reading this check them out, because they got some cool stuff.

I give Weezer 4/5 stars!

What up, peeps! Today, I will be reviewing a song. The song is "1901" by Phoenix. "1901" is an Alternative Rock/Synthpop song by the French band Phoenix. The song was released in February of 2009.

Now, on to the review:

The song has a very poppy, upbeat beginning. Featuring a very moody kind of singing from Thomas Mars, the song suggests that the song is obviously about something crazy that happened. According to Mars, the song is about how great Paris was in 1901. The song features interesting lyrics and a variety of instruments. I give this song 5/5 stars, and I recommend a buy on iTunes.

NBA stars Kevin Garnett, Dwyane Wade and Kobe Bryant are three of the best players in the NBA today (probably just random, though Wade’s stature decreased a tad with LeBron James joining his team, and Garnett is another year older). All three of these players were in the NBA playoffs, but the Lakers just got beat by the Mavs, so Kobe is out!

The top three players in college basketball last season had two things in common-- Jimmer Fredette, Nolan Smith and Kemba Walker were all guards – and they were all upperclassmen. It’s no secret that experience can play a huge role in players’ success, especially on the perimeter.

Hello people of the world! Welcome to the Zilker 5th Grade Blog. I'm your crazy awesome music reviewer, Music Maniac! Today I will be reviewing the band The Limousines. You may have heard of them, because they played at SXSW this year.

On to the review!

The Limousines are an Alternative Rock, Electronica, and Indietronica band. Composed of two people, Eric Victorino and Giovanni Giusti, this Rock N' Roll gone Electronica band formed in 2007. The band orginally started in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their singles "Internet Killed The Video Star" and "Very Busy People" allowed them to gain popularity in the Indie and Electronica scenes. In July of 2010, Victorino and Giusti released their first studio allbum "Get Sharp" to Hot Topic stores nationwide. Get Sharp" was released under the Orchard City Books & Noise indie label. Eventually, "Get Sharp" was released on iTunes, and gain much more fame. As of December 2010, The Limousines are signed to the label Dangerbird Records. In my opinion, The Limousines are a great band for anyone who wants to find some new music, loves the indie scene, or just like the style of Electronica. Overall, The band it's self gets 4/5 stars, and the album "Get Sharp' gets 5/5. I am very impressed with their music.

Today, the Apple product of the day is the iMac.

The new iMac of course comes in 27 inches and 21.5 inches. All of the new iMacs are now quad-core, not just the $1,999 model. The iMac includes one Thunderbolt port on the 21.5 inch models, and two Thunderbolt ports on the 27 inch models, which is really cool because you can have up to three displays, (including the iMac) but that's just for the really hardcore movie/photo editors. And of course, like all Macintosh computers, the iMac is very green. The iMac is BFR and PVC free, it has a Mercury free-LED-backlit display. The display glass is Arsenic free, and the iMac has highly recyclable aluminum and glass enclosures. The iMac meets the ENERGY STAR 5.2 requirements, and is rated EPEAT Gold. In the box, you get the iMac, (duh) you have a choice between the Apple Magic Mouse and The Apple Magic Trackpad, (wireless) the power cord, install/restore DVDs, and a printed and electronic documentation. The iMac comes with iLife "11, and Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The camera built in to the iMac is bumped up from the iSight camera to the FaceTime HD camera, which shoots at a stunning HD 720p quality. Apple has done away with the Intel Core i3 processor, and the iMacs only have the i5, but you can configure the $1,499 model to have a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, and you can configure the $1,999 model to have a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor.
I rate this this computer 5 out of 5 stars, and I really like the iMac and Apple. I'm very sorry to say that this is gonna be the last Apple Product of the day because the blog is being shut down. So if you're looking to buy a new computer you should get the new iMac or the recently refreshed MacBook Pro.
